2022 quickly draws to a close; winds blow, leaves fall, and tears flow like rain. Fiscal policies meant to ease the shockwaves of COVID-19 have stoked [1] inflation across the globe, but the US in particular has been vigilant [2] about combating it by way of interest rate hikes. Many analysts believe that the US is due for a recession, in part because of aggressive policies by the Federal Reserve, who’ve stated that they will continue to raise interest rates in the face of inflation. In the words of singer-songwriter John Lennon: “So this is Christmas / And what have you done?”
At Ringle Content, 2022 has brought us the end of old initiatives and the beginning of new and exciting things. We’ve said farewell to the Daily Brief, and in its place, we’ve adopted new publishing policies to make our articles increasingly digestible and streamlined for Ringlers, old and new. In addition to continuing our regular LIVE programs, which have always delighted our users, we’ve introduced our Read With Me sessions to help our students become connoisseurs of the fine arts.
Though at the time of this writing, the end of 2022 is still more than a full month out, there’s lots to rehash [3]. The pandemic, although trying at times, has brought the world together with vaccination roll-outs and gradual reopenings. In sports, the FIFA World Cup is (at present) anticipated to take place in Qatar, which will see fans flocking in from all over the globe. In business and politics, American investor Elon Musk has acquired the communications platform Twitter, and in South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol was elected president by a very narrow margin. Across the globe, greenhouse gas emissions continue to break record highs, and fossil fuel emissions have once again exceeded pre-pandemic levels.
As we ring in 2023, the chip shortages and supply bottlenecks will ease, but indubitably [4] continue to carry impacts throughout the course of the new year. Economic inflation will also continue, but having gotten through a tough few years, this is an opportune moment to reflect both on your personal year and life perspective. In English, there’s the proverbial question of seeing the glass as half-full or half-empty. We at Ringle Content encourage our readers to take a litmus test to their own worldview and determine how they are opting to see the year to come.
The entire team at Ringle and Ringle Content are delighted to bring you new and exciting initiatives that will help you engage with a new language that can no doubt be intimidating at times. As one partner in your English learning journey, we’re honored to have accompanied [5] you through the course of the year. We’ll continue listening to your feedback, and we wish our readers a fantastic end to 2022 and an even brighter 2023. "Let's hope it's a good one."
