IntroductionAh, to be in love-- it’s truly an unforgettable emotion. Love is defined as “an intense feeling of deep affection,” but those who have experienced it, or even those who are familiar with it, know that love is so much more complex. Biology and Psychology Love is a unique embodiment of the biological and psychological drives that make us who we are. To understand the psychology of love, one must first understand two primary neurotransmitters that underlie it: dopamine and oxytocin. Dopamine is a feel-good hormone, released and closely associated [1] with the experience of pleasure. Buying a new phone, going out to eat your favorite food, even meditation [2] will all result in releases of dopamine in the brain. Oxytocin, on the other hand, is a neurotransmitter associated with social and emotional bonds. It is not well understood, but released during positive physical contact and social interactions (hugs, smiles, and such).  In the course of love, then, in addition to the dopamine and oxytocin, a plethora of other neurotransmitters interact in a mesmerizing and complex stream that start to target and build the system of rewards and reward-seeking behavior that drive [3] us towards dating, friendships, and more. While it may not feel particularly poetic to describe these incredible feelings (our love and attraction) as mere neurotransmitters in the brain, understanding the science behind our feelings can often allow us to utilize them in ways that are useful for us, to help us grow,  learn, and better ourselves.   How do you feel, now that you’ve learned a little bit about the science behind love? 머리말사랑에 빠진다는 것, 그건 정말 잊을 수 없는 감정입니다. 사랑은 "깊은 애정의 강렬한 감정"으로 정의되지만, 사랑을 경험한 사람이나 사랑을 잘 알고 있는사람들은 그것이 훨씬 더 복잡하다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 생물학과 심리학에서 바라본 사랑사랑은 인간을 인간이게 하는 생물학적, 그리고 심리적 욕구의  독특한 구현이라고 볼 수 있습니다. 사랑의 심리를 이해하기 위해서는 우선 사랑의 근간을 이루는 두 가지 주요 신경전달물질- 도파민과 옥시토신을 알아야 합니다. 도파민은 기분을 좋게 하는 호르몬으로 즐거움을 경험할 때 분비되고 그런 경험과 밀접하게 연관되어 있습니다. 새 휴대폰을 사는 것, 좋아하는 음식을 먹으러 가는 것, 심지어 명상 행위도 뇌에서 도파민을 방출합니다. 반면에 옥시토신은 사회적, 감정적 유대감과 관련된 신경전달물질입니다. 아주 정확히 밝혀져 있지는 않지만 옥시토신은 긍정적인 신체적 접촉과 사회적 상호작용(포옹, 미소 등)이 일어날 때 분비되는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.  사랑을 하고 있는 동안에는 도파민과 옥시토신 외에, 수많은 다른 신경전달물질들은 신비하고 복잡한 방식의 상호작용을 통해서 보상과 보상 추구 행동의 체계를 겨냥하고 구축하기 시작합니다. 이런 체계가 바로 사람들이 데이트를 하고 친구를 사귀는 등의 행동을 하게 만듭니다. 이 놀라운 느낌들(우리의 사랑과 애정)을 단순히 뇌의 신경전달물질로 설명하는 것은 별로 로맨틱하게 느껴지지 않을 수도 있지만, 우리가 느끼는 감정의 이면에 놓인 과학을 이해하는 것은 우리가 그 감정들을 우리에게 유용한 방법으로 사용하게 해주어 우리가 자라고 배우고 보다 나은 우리 자신이 되도록 도와줍니다.  사랑의 이면에 숨겨진 과학에 대해 조금 알고 나니 여러분의 기분은 어떤가요? 혼란스러운가요 아니면 자신감이 생기나요?
